World gyrocopters

This list contain all kinds of gyrocopters.

A gyrocopter is commonly named as autogyro, but can also be named as gyroplane, autocopter or rotaplane, as well as by the generic terms rotorcraft or rotary-wing aircraft.

The word gyrocopter (or autogyro) origin from greek (α’υτός + γύρος) which simply means self-turning as a gyrocopter uses an unpowered rotor in autorotation to obtain lift.

Drones

World drones  (RPAS / UAS / UAV)

This list contain all kinds of drones with multiple rotors.

NOTE:Currently, this list only contain drones with rotors that are registered as aircrafts and thus assigned a regular aircraft registration, e.g. in the United States where drones with rotors are registered as rotorcrafts and assigned a regular N-number (Nxxxxx).

A drone with multiple rotors can also be named as multicopter, as well as by the generic term rotorcraft.

In general, a drone can be named by the common terms RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System), UAS (Unmanned Aircraft System) or UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), as well as several other terms that also can be used, for example Nano-UAS or NUAS (Nano Unmanned Aircraft System = very small drones) and HALE (High-Altitude Lone-Endurance).

More specifically, based on the number of rotors, a drone with multiple rotors can be named as dicopter (2 rotors), tricopter (3 rotors), quadcopter or tetracopter or quadricopter (4 rotors), pentacopter or petacopter (5 rotors), hexacopter (6 rotors), heptacopter or septicopter (7 rotors), octocopter or octacopter (8 rotors), enneacopter or nonacopter (9 rotors), decacopter (10 rotors), dodecacopter (12 rotors), tetrakaidecacopter (14 rotors), hexakaidecacopter (16 rotors), octokaidecacopter (18 rotors), icosicopter (20 rotors) or icosikaitetracopter (24 rotors).

For special or experimental purposes, drones with even more rotors has been made, for example pentacontakaitetracopter with 54 rotors!
